Ontario Rotomolding Working Group Conference
Canadian molders, university researchers and government
came together for an excellent meeting to discuss how to promote the
rotational molding industry in Toronto on November 23rd, 2004. Canada has a
lot of funding available for R&D at present and they are taking advantage
of some of it for the benefit of rotomolders in the region. See Ontario
2004 for a report.

Encuentro Iberoamericano de la Industria del Rotomoldeo
Polimers Mexicanos hosted the 1st Meeting of
Latin-American Rotational Molders in Acapulco on November 11-13, 2004. This was
a combination of presentations by international suppliers followed by seminars
and training courses for two days with over 100 people in attendance (most of
them molders). See Mexico 2004 for more details.
ARM International 29th Annual Fall Meeting,
October, 2004
As the main event of the rotomolding calendar, the
Fall ARM in Cleveland event was a resounding success with over 400 people in
attendance. With over 60 tradeshow booths and a full technical program, it was a
great networking opportunity with visitors from over 24 countries. See
Cleveland 2004 for more details.
Practical Aspects of Rotomolding,
Toronto, August 30, 2004
This turned out to be a very interesting session with
molders from the Ontario region and even visitors from Pakistan and Chile. I
also took the opportunity to visit with Prof. John Vlachopolous and Dr.
Elizabeth Takacs at their facilities in McMaster University. They have some
excellent equipment and some very interesting projects not only in rotational
molding but also in fields such as micro-injection.

John and Elizabeth with their lab-scale rotomolding machine...

...and with their micro-injection molding machine. This type of work is
aimed at producing micro-machines for such things as internal surgery in
humans!

2004
Despite being set
against a background of slower growth in Europe than hoped for, the 3PEC

well) representing over 35 countries. As always, it was a great chance to see
lots of old friends and meet a lot of new faces. See PEC
3 Rome for a review of the papers and the toga party...
Practical Aspects of Rotomolding, La Mirada,
California, 1st March 2004

The major event in the rotomolding calendar lived up to
expectations with a very healthy turnout of 370+ people in exotic Kansas City,
Missouri. There was a good technical agenda and a series of workshops to
complement the supplier booths and some excellent entertainment to round-off
an enjoyable meeting. See ARM Nov '03 for a review
and more details.
Rotomolding Seminar, Telford, UK,
October 9th 2003
Polymer Training in the UK once again hosted my Practical
Aspects of Rotational Moulding Seminar at their excellent Telford training
facility. We had 16 attendees from all over the UK for a very good interactive
session. I am talking with the center staff about return visits next year so
keep checking back if you are in the UK and interested in good solid
rotomoulding training. You can also check the Polymer Training website at www.polymertraining.co.uk
Practical Aspects of Rotomolding, Tarrytown,
New York, 15th September 2003
This was the last in the current series of seminars
'on-the-road' for ARM International. We had a good turnout despite the fact
that the quantity of molders is not as great in the northeast of the country.
The group was lively and had plenty of questions. I'll post plans for future
seminars around the country as they are developed.

resource for the industry. Anyone who is interested in working with them
should contact Matt St. Onge at mstonge@ridgewater.mnscu.edu
They are planning to repeat the training seminar next year in May.
Practical Aspects of Rotational Molding, La Mirada, California, 9th
December 2002
The first in the latest series of events for ARM taking rotational molding
training closer to molders home areas in an effort to reduce costs and
encourage more people from a facility to attend. This is a snapshot of some of
the attendees. Thanks to all who attended and also to Jim Hummel of Mold in
Graphics for an informative presentation on how their systems can help molders
solve everyday problems.

for more details.
Practical Aspects of Rotational Molding - 8th April, Lacrosse,
Wisconsin
20 people attended the latest roadshow event in the tri-state area of
Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. This was a very lively group with great
interaction and lots of questions. My thanks to George Barton of Chemtrend and
John Newhouse of Lakeland Molds who contributed with sessions on mold release
and mold construction. More events are planned - keep an eye on the ARM
web-site for future dates around the country as we take this show on the road!
ARM 26th Annual Conference, 27-29th January 2002, Minneapolis,
Minnesota
Over 250 people attended the latest ARM meeting held in Minneapolis. It
felt more like a Spring meeting and the local weather also obliged with an
unusually warm spell. Unfortunately, this meant that Orla was also able to
move around more freely and she obliged with her usually active credit
card! See ARM Meeting Jan '02 for more details.
Persico SpA - 25th Anniversary Celebration, 7th December 2001, Nembro,
Italy
A celebration of 25 successful years at the Persico facility. One
hundred customers and over 1200 people from the local community participated in
this memorable event. See Persico for photographs and
more details.
Practical Aspects of Rotational Molding, 3rd December
2001, Cleveland, Ohio
35 people attended the first presentation of ARM's Practical
Aspects of Rotational Molding Seminar presented by Paul Nugent. The seminar
is aimed at supervisory and senior operator staff and concentrates on
discussions of hands-on issues. The plan for this seminar is to take it around
the USA to locations that allow molders to send their people with minimal cost.
The next event is planned for Minnesota sometime in March/April 2002.
