ARMSA Rotation
2002 Conference ARMSA hosted its annual Rotation Conference from 12 13 June 2002 at the Plastics Federation of SA, Midrand. Fifty people attended the conference with ten speakers. Even though there were fewer people than in the past, it once again proved to be a big success. The feedback from both speakers and delegates has been very positive.
Mark Kearns from Queens University, Belfast was the keynote speaker and he presented some very informative and interesting papers. Also in this shot are Sergio Zillioli of Persico, Italy, Graham Randall of Kaymac Rotomoulders, Pietermaritzburg and Judy van de Langkruis of CIBA Specialty Services, Switzerland.
Other speakers included Hellmut Bowles of Peninsula Technikon, Mark Kearns' twin brother Fred, Jack Wiid of Pioneer Plastics, Andile Yengeni of NAMAC and Nick Moldan of MIG, Australia Nick, of course, being a familiar face to the local rotomoulding industry.
Leon Joubert - Sasol Polymers
Nick Aggett of Sasol Polymers
Clive Robertson - Affirm Marketing Services The
international speakers all complimented the organizing committee on a
world-class event. Mark Kearns
stated, I have participated in many conferences, and this event is definitely
on par with the rest of the world. A
special thank you goes out to the two main sponsors, Sasol Polymers and Affirm
Marketing Services. Another big
thank you goes out to Clive Robertson of Affirm Marketing Services who handed
out mini cooler boxes to each delegate at the conference. Last,
but not least, we would like to thank all the speakers, delegates and sponsors
who participated in the Rotation 2002 Conference.
We realise that without your support this conference would not have been
a success. We
look forward to an even bigger and better conference next year and urge the
entire rotomoulding industry to participate.
It really proves to be worth it! Rotomoulding
Workshop A
Rotomoulding Workshop was held on Friday 14 June 2002, also at the Plastics
Federation, Midrand. The workshop
was very informal and aimed at students, operators and anybody interested in the
rotomoulding process. It was well
attended by 60 delegates. For the first time, ARMSA hosted a Student Design Award Competition. Twenty-two 2nd Year Industrial Design Students from Cape Technikon entered their designs. Students were given free reign on their designs, with the main criteria being that the design / product had to be original and practical. Some very good designs were entered. Well done to our three winners:
In addition to the prize money, all three of the students were flown up to Johannesburg, stayed the night at a guesthouse, and attended the Rotomoulding Workshop on the Friday, free of charge. Product of the
Year Award This year there was only one category in the Product of the Year Competition. ARMSA members entered the following products:
Congratulations to Cornel Coote of Kaymac Rotomoulders who walked away with the winning award this year for submitting the Utility Box! Cornel is shown here receiving his award from ARMSA President Gary Lategan. |
