Inaugural Meeting of The Rotomolding Committee of

The  China Plastics Processing Industry Association

18-19th June 2005, Shanghai , China

The rotational molding industry in China received a boost with the formation of The Rotational Molding Committee of The China Plastics Processing Industry Association (RMCCPPIA). This group held their inaugural meeting in Shanghai on June 18th and 19th with a variety of speakers from both China and overseas.

Over 200 people attended with some 72 companies (both molders and suppliers) represented. There were also a number of universities and research institutes present.

Harry Covington of Ferry Industries (far left) passed on a message from ARM International and David Stoopman (second from left), President of ARMA, congratulated them on behalf of the Australian Association.

Mr. Wang Haisheng of the Shanghai Technology Transfer and Exchange Institute has taken over as Chairman of the group to coordinate the activities of the RMCCPPIA. Here we exchanged gifts between the RMD and his group.

There followed a series of presentations from various speakers including Yang Weimin of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Johan Aasen of Motion Technology, Harry Covington of Ferry Industries, Jack Lu of ICO Courtenay (Malaysia), Alain St-Pierre of Reduction Engineering, Jerry Eng of Cytec and myself.

Yours truly was there to deliver a message of support from the Rotational Molding Division of SPE and also to give a presentation about Rotational Molding Around the World. Dr. Linda Xu of LiDa Corporation thankfully assisted with translation of my talks. The audience was probably one of the most dynamic that I have ever spoken to.

It was hot and sticky at the front - A/C and lots of water necessary!

There were familiar faces in the crowd - looking like something out of a Men in Black movie, the front row included Eddie Koh of ICO Courtenay, S.B. Zaman of SARD and John Zhang of LiDa Corporation.
