Plant Assessment

A Rapid Assessment tool used for rotomolding plants to evaluate current operational standards and identify potential areas for improvement.

The tool uses a 250+ point questionnaire as a guide to review the following areas:

Section 1: Company Details

Basic info about your company and contacts.

Section 2: Material / Component Receiving

    In-bound controls and inspection procedures.

Section 3: Raw Material Preparation

Control of material quality and performance is critical for all downstream processes - how well is your material ground, mixed and batched for production?

Section 4: Molds & Fixtures

Storage, inspection and calibration are key elements of a healthy mold & fixture program.

Section 5: Molding Operations

Take a comprehensive look at machine set-ups, molding cycles and controls, operating practices, production flow and quality control issues.

Section 6: Molding Equipment Maintenance

Are your maintenance personnel fire-fighters or predictors? Take a general look at how organized your maintenance program is.

Section 7: Finishing Operations

As varied as the number of products that can be made by rotomolding but should have a general sense of order & flow.

Section 8: Shipping Prep. & Shipping

Final contact with the product - does your operation work to order or a finished goods warehouse?

Section 9: Production Planning & Data

A key element of the operation - are you collecting the right data and using it the right way?

Section 10: Training Systems

Do you have a range of key basic training programs in place?

Section 11: Engineering / Quoting

How close are your engineering staff to the molding process?

Section 12: Customer Follow-Up & Complaint Handling

Often painful but should be a very useful process to learn and correct issues.

Section 13: Overall 'Lean' Assessment

A 21 point overview of the operation

The assessment can typically carried out in one day visit with a half-day for a follow-up report or a two-day visit to allow for more time to discuss and analyze specific areas. The report is intended to take a look at your overall systems and operation with suggestions on best practices and new developments in the industry. It offers a baseline for improvement as well as a comparison with general industry approaches.

Call or email for more details or to schedule a visit.
