Kaizen ActivitiesKaizen Activities or Events are team-based continuous improvement activities that are targeted on very specific objectives. Once an objective has been identified (often through Value-Stream mapping), a team is assembled and works on the problem using the following guidelines:
The team is typically charged with improving productivity, reducing Work-In-Process, freeing up Floor Space and eliminating the major Quality problems for an area. There will also often be safety improvements and ergonomic improvements that can be made. Kaizen literally means to break an area apart and put it back together. Dramatic changes are possible, particularly when the team is a combination of people directly involved in the process being targeted and people from other unrelated areas who can look at it from a different perspective.
