A return trip for us to New Zealand. A little wet and windy but a very enjoyable visit overall. Had an opportunity to take in some sightseeing, gave a seminar for Courtenay's, visited several molders and even went skydiving! This has to be one of the most outdoor activity crazy places in the world. We gave bungy jumping a miss this time but want to come back and do some white-water rafting.
We had 60 people for the seminar - this was the rabble, sorry, group of diehards, that took the session into the bar afterwards to discuss more rotomolding topics.
Stopped in to visit with the research group at Auckland University working on the ARM Cycle Time Reduction Project. Zacki Abdullah from Malaysia (left) is the doctoral student working full time on the project. Dr. Simon Bickerton is the project leader coordinating the work. They should have some interesting results for an upcoming ARM meeting.
Visited Garth Galloway at Galloway International. Here he is with Orla and his latest McDonalds creation. Nice operation with some innovative control systems developed in conjunction with Prof. Roy Crawford.
My Special Forces training allowed me to take Orla tandem skydiving over Lake Taupo. Exhilarating experience - roller coasters will never seem the same again....
Even the bungy jumpers have rotomolding close to their hearts. This is a three person jump seat that operates in downtown Auckland.
Right next door is the SkyCity Tower - this is the view from the ground....
...and this is what it looks like from 800ft up standing on a glass floor. Dizzy for hours after that one!
