It is Spring time in New Zealand at the moment, a little blowy but comfortable. We have a busy schedule during our six day stopover. The first session was with Andrew Nugent (front - second from left - no doubt a long lost cousin as there are not too many Nugent's around the world) and Paul Mill (middle row - right end) from Vanglobe and a number of their customers from both the North and South islands. Lots of good questions and hopefully a few ideas generated. The weekend offered the opportunity for some relaxation in the Auckland harbor area. Orla put me to work to catch some lunch but unfortunately I ended up only feeding the fish and not bringing any in! Fish were flying in left and right of me, maybe I hadn't drunk enough beer... In the end though, it was a good day for the boat and a good catch of snapper was duly shared by everyone. Garth Galloway and his wife Jenny had joined us along with Paul and Leslie (left with a prize catch), Andrew and Fiona with their two boys, Oliver and Mathew (both daring swimmers!) and Steve and Paul from RX Plastics. A very enjoyable day on the thankfully calm seas. Monday was the turn of a large group of molders attending the seminar put on by Courtenay's Polymers. There were over 50 people in the group, most of whom are in the photograph below. It was good to see some repeat faces in the group; although I am sure that Bloys Rijkmans of Courtenay's was relieved to see the last of five presentations in less than two weeks! We had some good exchanges but the group was just a little bit shy at times.... A successful day was rounded off with a very pleasant evening for those attendees that wanted to stay for dinner in a local restaurant. Aucklanders are spoilt for choice on both the North Shore and in the City proper. |
