Rotoplas 2011 R3 Operational Assessment / Analysis
ARM is holding the annual conference in Chicago on November 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. It is also time for the Rotoplas show held every three years to showcase the latest in rotomolding technology from around the world. See www.Rotoplas.org for full details of the program.

Should be a great show - lot's of space sold for the tradeshow and there are lot's of people coming from all over the world for the main event. I've been asked to give a short presentation on Lean Manufacturing to fill in a gap in the program and will actually be opening the conference on November 2. See you there!

A quick check-up for your operation.

Interested in understanding how well your operation is running? Finding out about benchmarking or comparing your operation? How does your technology or efficiency compare to other molders? Check what is available in the world of rotational molding and receive an in-depth report on your operation using a new assessment service.

See Rotomolding Rapid Review for more details.

Reduce Your Exposure to Legal Issues Hands-On Training Seminar - June 2012
Many issues which ultimately lead to disputes could be avoided by molders taking simple steps to prevent problems from arising. This new seminar takes a look at typical problems and how they can affect more than your bottom line; why customer specifications are often not enough to ensure that everyone is on the same page; why it's important to make sure that everyone understands who does what, when and where right from the start; the golden rules in rotomolding design; validating production processes against design requirements and the 1st part approval process; which material properties are most important and how to match them to part performance; key process control steps; why documentation matters; good QC steps to identify problems early; material testing; how to make sure that problem solving is carried out by the right people.

This is a full-day seminar with ample time for discussion and questions - ideal for all rotomolders. The next events scheduled are:

     Buena Vista, California December 5th

     Minneapolis, Minnesota December 7th

     Strongsville, Ohio December 9th

See www.rotomolding.org for details on registering for the above events.

Other dates are currently being scheduled in other countries for 2012.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will be holding their next annual Rotational Molding Hands-On Seminar on June 19th and 20th. See the Penn College RMCE website for more details and how to register.

The event combines classroom and workshop teaching to demonstrate the key connections between material preparation, molding parameters and final part quality. The class size is limited and allows for interaction between attendees facing similar day-to-day issues. There is also a visit to a local molder to see large scale parts being produced.

Remember the essential items for rotomo(u)lders everywhere:

Rotational Molding: A Practical Guide. The most comprehensive book on rotational molding available today with over 800 pages and 400 figures / tables, it is an easy-to-read reference book for anyone interested in understanding more about the process from a practical perspective. Now available in Chinese - see Book Order.
Rotational Molding Training Seminar. A broad based training package that includes both basic and advanced elements and can be customized to suit your company needs and interests. This continues to be updated and improved as I include more details from my book and travels. Now with over 1000 slides.
Lean Manufacturing training and resources. Take a fresh look at your operation from a 'waste' perspective - you'll be surprised at how much hidden waste exists in a typical molding factory. More importantly, show your employees how to look at their surroundings to identify waste and eliminate it.
